Volunteering The Bratch Scout Group would not be able to run without its strong group of amazing volunteers who give up their time to provide new opportunities to our members. We are always looking for more people to join our volunteer team, to help for as little or as much time as they can. Each section has a Leadership Team that is given the responsibility of running their section and allowing the young people to make the most out of their Scouting adventure, while at the same time having an adventure themselves. Being a volunteer also offers the chance to build on personal skills, like teamwork, confidence and leadership. Or if you’d rather work behind the scenes, our Support Team are there to support the group in providing Scouting activities, and there’s always more we’d like to be able to do! There is also our Trustee Board who ensure that the charity is running correctly As well as the benefits of working with young people and helping them to enjoy their scouting adventure there is the added perk that, as a volunteer leader or committee member, your young person gets a priority place in the group as spaces become available. If you’d like to help, in any way, please get in touch with us! We currently are in particular need of: Leaders We are currently in need of additional leaders within our Beaver Colony and our Scout Troop. Section Teams make sure: We’re planning and delivering a great programme There’s a great culture for volunteers and members Scouts is a safe environment for everyone Admin gets done, such as keeping member records Everyone’s kept in the loop You do not have to be available for every meeting, we welcome flexible volunteering. There is a small amount of compulsory training for this role. In addition there are lots of optional training opportunities, should you wish to develop further skills. You will receive the relevant support for all training. Find out more about Section Teams Support Team We would like to increase the team that work in the background to support the group, including with routine tasks such as maintenance and cleaning of our headquarters. This is still vital to the running of the Scout Group, but does not require a regular commitment. Trustee Board The Trustee Board is a team of volunteers who work together, as charity trustees, to make sure the Scout Group is run safely and legally. Trustee Boards make sure: Scouts operates safely and legally Volunteers have the resources to get things done We’re planning and thinking for the long term Money, risks, and buildings are managed well Teams follow policies and legislation The Trustee Board usually meets between 4 and 6 times a year.
