Scouts

Jump in and get muddy. Give back and get set. Scouts ignore the butterflies and go for it, and soon so will you.

Scouts is for all young people aged 10½ to 14. We meet at our Headquarters on Wednesdays from 19:30 to 21:00.

What Do Scouts Get Up To?

Being a Scout is all about discovering the world on your own terms and making the most of what you have, wherever and whoever you are.

Alongside your new friends, you’ll master the skills that will help you weather the storms of life, and try things you’d never get the chance to do at home or at school – working with trained volunteers to achieve whatever you set your mind to.

Recent activities include:

  • Pancake making.
  • Sewing of Badges/Pride in Uniform.
  • Scout Promise using sign language.
  • Communications Badge – (Morse code / phonetic alphabet)
  • Pioneering / Tent erecting and taking down.
  • Meteorologist Badge – (Weather – Clouds information)
  • Hike.
  • Fire lighting/Survival Skills.

How To Join

We operate a first come-first served waiting list system for our Scout Troop, with priority given to Cubs who are moving up, so it is good to register with us early. Contact us, including your young person’s name and date of birth, to get them added to our waiting list. We always welcome more volunteers – as a volunteer leader or committee member your young person gets a priority place as spaces become available.
